I have always thought of making ballet shoes bento for a while. As this was my very first attempt, I was still trying out how to go about doing it. If any of you have any suggestions how to cut ballet shoes with the ribbon in a more effective way, I would love to hear from you.
I made the shoes out of ham and cheese. First, I traced the size of the shoes on a tracing paper and cut it. Then I used that to cut the shoes with a knife individually. That’s why it wasn’t smooth round the edges and you might have guessed it, it took me awhile to cut the ribbons and shoes individually. A simple breakfast for a ballerina.
This is a closer look of the one placed in the bento box.
There were 2 spam sandwiches, some lettuces, cut out sausages put together with a foodpick (whoopss..I’ve just realized that one of notes is in the wrong direction) and cut out carrots.
On the plate, there were 4 sandwiches; the fillings were lettuces, spam and cheese. Then I used a mini flower cutter to cut the carrot and cut some long strips of carrots as just an add-on. I used tomato sauce to write the word “Ballet” on the sandwich. For the ballet shoes, I tried another technique of cutting them. Here’s how I did it… (pardon me for the imperfect pictures).
I used 2 different sizes oval cutters. One is bigger than the other. The bigger one I used to cut the ham. I cut the sides of the ham to make it look slimmer. Then, I used the smaller oval to cut the cheese and cut it across diagonally to make it into 4 parts.
Bon Appetit! Enjoy the rest of your day! Keep watching this space, cause there’s more interesting creations to come! 🙂
When days are gray, when your shoulders slump and your feet drag, take a deep breath and… STAND TALL. You’ll have a much better view.
